Seattle Kraken & Marcial Family Time
Unlike our time in Missouri, Amity have decided to not renew her contract and we are headed out of the PNW in two short weeks. This means we have time for one last adventure, so let’s go big! When we moved out to Washington our friends, Colin and Emilienne, invited us to go to a Seattle Kraken hockey game with them. They are season ticket holders, and have great seats. So, we had to take them up on the offer. We also knew that this would be the last chance we would have to spend some time with my Uncle David. Bonus points, his daughter and her husband, Taiko & Charlie, were able to join! It was a great last adventure in Washington!

Amity and I are not necessarily hockey fans. We do not watch games on TV much, nor do we follow the season too much. But we do love going to live games! We have been to multiple games since starting our adventure. We have been to a Blackhawks game in Chicago and a Blues game in St. Louis. Now, we are getting the chance to see the newest team in the NHL play in the newest hockey area, Climate Pledge Area.
We got into the Seattle early in the day. Amity had to first pass a test on the Physical Therapy Laws of the State of Arizona (spoiler alert!!!). She was not too stoked with the format of the test. She felt like it was constantly trying to trick her, and that she was going to fail because of its “gamey” format. But remember, we are talking about Amity Sparks here! She crushed it & passed! With this task checked off the list, we could focus on having some fun. We met up with the Moll’s at their house. Colin showed off his new gym set, while Amity showed off her ability to do a pull-up. As I get older, they are getting harder and harder to think about, let alone do. She’s still got it!
We all packed into their car and headed out for downtown Seattle. Being season ticket holders, they had a system down. We had our parking spot planned out, where to get the best food/drinks both inside and outside of the stadium, historical insight into the stadium and a super smooth exit plan for any kind sporting event!
The game was great, other than the fact Seattle lost. Climate Pledge Arena is a beautiful facility! Everything is so clean and well maintained, that it’s easy to forget you’re at a sports complex. From a “living hallway” to a crazy story about how the roof had to be maintained while the built it. Our friends have amazing seats for their tickets. We definitely got spoiled! Following the game we went outside to take some pictures under the Space Needle. I got a little too ambitious with trying to climb up a whale statue after it had rained and took a hard digger; humiliating but funny! We finished the night with what has become our late night tradition when we all go out together; skeet ball! We played a few rounds trying to reset the high score, before just unplugging the machine and setting a new high score! Such a fun night!
The next day we lounged around their house watching football. It worked for us though, because we were waiting to head back into Seattle to meet up with my Uncle, David, for dinner. We lucked out that my cousin Taiko and her husband Charlie were also coming into the city from their home that evening, so we were all able to meet up for some ramen at a place called, Menya Musashi. David is my dad’s brother, and as much as they are alike, they are nothing alike! I have always respected David for this. He brings a different perspective to the Marcial fire and passion that my family is so accustomed to. We learned a few new stories about the Marcial family, and really enjoyed his time. Learning about Taiko and Charlie’s new home across the sound was very exciting. We really enjoyed having dinner with them and catching up. Being able to see family across the country has been one of the best parts of being able to live this travel life! With full bellies and permanent grins from laughter, we all parted our ways.
It is a 90 min drive from Seattle to Anacortes if you don’t get into traffic. We were able make the drive with no issues. It was a late Sunday night to pull into Anacortes, but we knew that this would be our last full week of work at our current jobs. With finality comes excitement. We are very grateful for all the exploring and adventures we have been able to do here in Pacific Northwest. Fulfilling our dreams to live on the ocean has been amazing! We have had great friends and family to make this journey that much more enjoyable. For now, it’s one more week of work, and then we are off to Arizona!!!
